The time has come for the main event. I think we are all looking forward to the new Second Stage. I am glad that Brian will start our traditions there in a memorable way.

This morning, there was an article about pleasure in my morning newspaper.

Composers have always known this simple, basic truth: pleasure is half anticipation and half blissful recollection, and hardly at all about the fulfilment of the promise. The great musical statements of ecstasy, such as Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde or Schubert’s first Suleika song, are literally all half crescendo and half languid recall.

Pleasure, for humans, is inevitably weighed down with anticipation, loss and memory

It’s relevant for us, I think.

2/10（水）地域交流まちづくりセンターにおいて、スタッフミーティングが開催されました。
まず芸術監督のソガ直人から、第003回芸術祭に出演を予定している団体の紹介がありました。実際にDVDを見た後、それぞれ意見の交換をしました。次に、オーストラリア・アデレードの「ウォーマデレイド（WOMADelaide）」研修について、参加者からその意気込みを聞きました。ウォーマデレイドのホームページをスライドで見ながら、全員でイメージをつかみました。また、オープニングライブツアーについての予告もありました。現在、チェコからワールドミュージックバンド「デネブ（deneb）」の来日が実現できるよう、準備を進めているという報告がありました。準備はおおむね、順調にすすんでいます。
なお、この日のイアンコーナーは、全員で「バスケットボール」のビデオを鑑賞し、パスを数えるというものでした。なぜ全員で、バスケのパスの数を数えなければならなかったのか。ネタバレするので、興味のある方は続き（read more）をご覧ください。

12/15（火）地域交流まちづくりセンターで、芸術祭スタッフによるミーティングと、ポットラック・パーティーが行われました。約30人が集まり、来年2010年の芸術祭の話題と、イアンコーナーで盛り上がりました。また、3月上旬にオーストラリア・アデレードで行われる野外フェスティバル・WOMADelaide研修に関する提案も行われました。より多くのスタッフの参加が望まれます。オーストラリア研修の詳細は、事務局までお問い合わせください。
