The Mbira is a traditional instrument of the Shona people in the Republic of Zimbabwe, located in the southern part of Africa. It is used to pray for their ancestors and spirits as well as for rain, harvest celebrations and disease recovery. Garikayi Tirikoti demonstrated musical talent from childhood and began playing the Mbira when he was 3 years old. Together with Sumi Madzitateguru, he established the “Mbira Orchestra”, playing up to seven kinds of high to low frequency Mbira simultaneously. The finger speed of their erformances needs to be seen to be believed.
