Sara recently released her debut album with producer Fred Endresen from Norway. Their unique sound is based on the typically south Sami yoik tradition, and is sung in the Ume language. In joint live performances they focus on improvisation, with the goal of preserving the typical rhythyms of traditional yoik while still producing a modern sound. The strength and inspiration for Sara’s music comes from her home and her heart in Sweden’s Västerbotten mountains, which are renowned for their 20,000 lakes, summer days without nights, northern lights and tradition of reindeer husbandry, which still involves over 50,000 reindeer.
