Bakurocho Band, Tokyo

This three-person band started in the Showa era. They play nostalgic music in a style that will surprise you. Their music presents a eclectic balance based on experience of fieldwork on old Japanese ballads, their own style, and the spirit of “playing with songs”. They have a wide repertoire of music: Japanese children’s songs, folk songs, Odori Nenbutsu (buddhist dances), Afro-beat, and folklore from around the world. These styles live in their music together naturally as if they’ve existed since ancient times. Their members are Tetsutaro Take (guitar and vocal), Yousuke Oda (bass guitar and vocal) and Hiroshi Habu (Yuko and vocal).
