Akira Sunrise became fascinated by bass sound after starting Japanese drumming during his boyhood in Kyoto. On graduation, he visited Spain, where he saw the African percussion-instrument, djembe and was touched by the power of connection made by the music. He has been to over 25 countries to play his music, as a communication tool to make relationships beyond the boundaries of language. He released his third album, “Tai” in 2013, and fourth album “Nature-Session” in 2014. For WMDF, he will collaborate with Erika, who has huge experience of many forms of dance, including African dance, belly dance, contemporary dance, and street dance. But her real passion is improvised dance, which she loves for its escape from genre, and creation of absolutely unique expression.
