Trachtenverein Rossecker Bruck an der Mur, Austria

Founded in 1920 and named after the 1664-metre “Rosseck” mountain, the priority of the Rosseckers is to cultivate and showcase folklore traditions through activities that include all age groups, especially the young. They are repeat multiple winners of the most prestigious accolades, notably the annual prizes “Wanderbanner” for the best Styrian folk dance group, and the award for best “Schuhplattler” dancing, where the soles of the dancers’ shoes (Schuhe), thighs and knees are struck by their flat hands (platt). Their accumulated achievements have been recognised and honoured in many ways, including the Josef-Krainer prize and the Styrian national prize for folk culture.
